Near the end of a 20 year run in commercial construction that began in Vail and ended in Chicago, I began to seek alternatives for the second half of my life. My life long interest in art led me to found Wright Publishing Company in 1994. This business partners with artists to produce and market limited edition fine art, primarily bronze sculptures. These artists work in many different media, including clay, wood, and stone. In 2000 this relationship came to include a renowned glass sculptor. In 2007 I realized that the best way to truly understand glass was to learn to work with it myself. I have been completely drawn in and seduced by hot glass. I am fascinated by the endless possibilities this material has to offer. I love working with color and surface, gesture and form. The trick now is to get the vision from my head, through my hands, and into glass. A few degrees here or there, a millimeter's difference in thickness, and the results can vary widely from piece to piece. That's the challenge of glass, and I'm loving every minute of it.
